Because i wanted to play around a little bit with Titanium i have created the ExtJS API Doc as a Desktop Application.
There was a version available for Adobe AIR some time ago – now it is available again, but made with Titanium not with Adobe AIR. I plan to update the App with a search Interface so you can do a full-text search on the API Docs. I also plan to update the Docs to the latest version as it is officially available via ExtJS Website.

Go to the download page and select the API Docs App for your desktop platform – Windows, Linux or Mac.

Today Adobe released AIR for Linux in Version 1.5 to catch up with the others. So in future Linux Users of AIR do not have to wait for new version. I think this is just another step of Adobe in the Linux world. I hope they will release also other Software simultaneously for Linux in future. For example Photoshop or other foto related programs of Adobe.

Some of them will be:

  • Comet
  • Charting API
  • etc…

Now Jack Slocum posted a preview of a visual drag and drop developer tool for ExtJS. In the Screencast he shows how to create a grid with an XML Source with Drag and Drop.

He also shows how to create reusable user created components.You can watch a preview development of this tool at screencast.com.

It looks like the Developer Tool itself is written with Ext, which shows the power of this JavaScript UI Library. In the Screencast the Developer Tool is deployed for Adobe Air. Although i like Adobe AIR, i hope the ExtJS Team will not only release this tool as an Adobe AIR App.

AIR was only available for Windows and MAC. Now the Linux version gets a little bit closer to this versions. With the Release of the Adobe AIR 1.1 Beta for Linux all Applications which runs on MAC and Win are supported with this release.

Adobe says on the FAQ Site that with version 1.5 they will release all new version of Adobe AIR on all Platforms (Win, Mac and Linux) at the same time. Hoping so…

Wie von Beginn an angekündigt wird nun laut einem Bericht von CNET eine erste Alpha Version für Linux erscheinen.
Interessant wird ob und wie allgemein die API von AIR nun auch unter Linux zu verwenden sein wird. Das wird vor allem bei Dateisystemoperationen interessant.
Ich denke das sich Adobes Runtime Air bei einer stabilen sicheren Version für alle 3 Major Betriebsysteme durchaus durchsetzen wird und uns eine Menge nützlicher Tools die noch mehr mit dem Internet verknüpft sind, bescheren wird.

Der Schwerpunkt der Release liegt neben einigen Bug Fixes vor allem in der Adobe AIR Unterstützung. Das Ext Team arbeitete eng mit dem Adobe Air Team zusammen um die neue Version zusammen mit Adobe Air 1.0 zu veröffentlichen.

Im Ext Blog findet man eine aktualisierte Version von Simple Tasks – ein Demo von ExtJS, dass die Adobe AIR Unterstützung von ExtJS zeigt.
